She's Got Moxxie - Edna Lewis
Edna Lewis (Apr 13, 1916--Feb 13, 2006), was an unsung heroine of American culinary history and a woman with some serious moxxie.
She opened her own restaurant in Harlem, authored four quintessential texts on Southern American cooking, was featured in numerous national publications and was named head chef at Gage & Tollner, NYC's then oldest restaurant since 1879.
She also helped to initiate the Southern Foodways Alliance after retiring in her late seventies.
