First a bit about Soap....
Soap is a cleansing agent made from the salts of vegetable oils or animal fat (fatty acids).
Cold process natural soaps are made by combining measured amounts of fatty oils with sodium hydroxide (lye) and water. Simply described, the chemical reaction is called saponification which creates glycerin and soap.
Commercial soap makers start with cheap oils and extract the glycerin, an important moisturizer, for use in cosmetics and other beauty products. They also add synthesized fragrances, artificial moisturizers, petrochemicals and other additives in order to mass produce cheap, highly fragrant cleansing products.
The
commercial soap maker result - more detergent than soap, sometimes not
even soap. Check their labels. Commercial
soaps are often very drying and irritating stripping your skin of its
natural oils.
What is moxxie?
moxxie
soaps are cold processed in small carefully measured batches, made from pure food grade edible plant oils.
Pure olive,
palm, and coconut are the base oils.
We then add various combinations of aloe vera oil, castor oil, almond oil, avocado oil, jojoba oil, wheat germ oil, and cocoa butter to create specific beneficial moisturizing and conditioning properties.
For additional beneficial properties we add pure, steam distilled therapeutic essential oils – pure plant extracts - which provide our soaps with complex and nuanced scents that stir the imagination, invigorate, instill positive feelings and calm the emotions.
For texture and color we add natural whole botanicals – herbs, flowers, teas.
In a few of our soaps we include small amounts of non-toxic clays, minerals and iron oxides which enhance color and texture and provide other beneficial properties.
We cure moxxie soaps for a minimum of 4 weeks.
